Ring bands that are 8mm and wider will be supplied one size larger as wide bands have a tighter fit. Please ensure you order you actual size.

Jewellery Care

All jewellery products and repairs are carried out using only hallmarkable, high quality recycled and/or sustainable materials. None of our jewellery uses plating techniques, unless requested as part of our repairs service.

It is our belief that the natural features of materials should take centre stage and any production should have as minimal impact on the environment as possible. This means that we do not use plating processes of any kind unless requested through our services page.

How Do I Care For My Jewellery?

Due to the composition of precious metals they can tarnish gradually over time. Some metals - such as silver - are more prone to this process. As a rule of thumb the more precious a metal is considered the more likely it is to withstand daily wear, such as tarnishing or scratching.

Tarnishing is a natural process that is caused by exposure to humidity and pollutants in the air. To minimise this process we advise you:

  • Remove jewellery when bathing, showering or swimming.

  • Apply make-up, hair spray, perfumes and moisturisers before wearing your jewellery.

  • Remove jewellery when doing household tasks such as cleaning, playing sport and other activities.

  • Do not wear your jewellery whilst on the beach or sunbathing.

Cleaning Jewellery

The most effective way to clean your jewellery is to purchase a good quality silver or gold dip. This is an effective and easy method to remove tarnish from your jewellery.

You may prefer your jewellery to be professionally cleaned, which is a service Scott Millar Jewellery offers. Please visit our Services page for more information.

Gemset Jewellery Care

All of our gemstones are professionally set by Scott himself and the settings are fully guaranteed for 12 months from purchase.

As with all jewellery some attention should be given to the settings and we advise that if regularly worn the security of stones should be checked once a year. Look out for any chipped stones, flattened claw tips or wobbles in the stones.

Should you think anything needs attention visit our Services page for more information.

To give your gemstones a little extra sparkle soak your jewellery in warm water with mild soap and then brush with a soft bristle toothbrush. Use a non-abrasive silver cloth to polish jewellery.

So not use silver or gold dip on soft porous stones such as pearls and opals as it will penetrate the stone and could lead to permanent damage.
